How Much Is The Mclaren F1 Worth
There is a McLaren F1 worth $23 million and its for sale – Who's buying?
WOW! $23 million for a McLaren F1. Who would have thought, one of the rarest cars would be priced so high? Would you even drive it at that cost or would it stand in your lounge on show?
About several weeks ago at the time of writing this, I did a post on a megacar which was the Koenigsegg Agera RS and if it was really worth the $10 million many believe it to be. This week, Top Gear brings us the most expensive McLaren F1 and tells us it's about to be auctioned to the value of $23m.
That's the same value of three Ferrari LaFerrari's at seven million dollars a piece or two Koenigsegg Agera RS' at 10 million dollars each. I don't even have the money to buy one rim from the LaFerrari, and here a special human is selling a special beast for a special price at $23m.
What Makes This McLaren F1 the King?
The F1 is rated as one of the best track to road cars placed on the streets. The unique British make manufactured only 160 pieces of this special breed and was sold at, what was at the time a lot of money, $600 000.
Cutting the 160 units down to even fewer numbers, the British factory only launched 64 off the floor, which was road legal Mc's. This specific design flourished during the years 1993 to 1998. Although, it goes even deeper with this golden child.
Giving this one an even more unique feel for the driver who will eventually own the car. The $23m McLaren is only one of two to be fitted with what we know as #0016 chassis.
Making it even more of a unicorn
One of only two F1s in existence to have received the factory's 'LM spec'. That's short for Le Mans specification, and as the name suggests, it basically adds the goodies that turned the road-going F1 into a bona-fide Le Mans endurance-winning legend.
Visually, the main distinction is the fixed rear wing – part of the 'High Downforce package' that changed the car's front air dam and added vents above the front wheels. It looks sterner – angrier, even – than a regular F1. Instead of running the standard 627bhp 6.1-litre BMW V12, the LM-spec cars housed the racing V12 freed of restrictors. As a result, power stands at some 680bhp. (via: TopGear.com)
Count all your pennies
Due it being a rarity and manufactured as one of two, alone makes it worth every 23 million pennies thrown at. If you were a car collector, you'd hop on your private plane and would already be making your way to the auction.
The Art of Gears believes this McLaren F1 LM Edition to be a megacar, surpassing its supercar status.
