Forza Horizon 4 Best Classic Muscle Car

Forza Horizon 4 Best Classic Muscle Car

Muscle cars are all about power and that's no different in Forza Horizon 4. Whether it's for drag racing or just for the thrill of acceleration, muscle cars appeal to a wide variety of people, thanks to the iconic engine noise and amazing straight-line speed. Players who know anything about muscle cars will also know that American manufacturers have dominated this particular car scene ever since it started.

With advertised power figures well into the hundreds and some questionable handling characteristics, picking out the best muscle car in a game as full of cars as Forza Horizon 4 can be a tricky task. Luckily, there are some clear standouts for you to choose from.

10 1977 Holden Torana A9X

The muscle car market is dominated by American manufacturers like Dodge, Chevrolet, and Ford, but that hasn't stopped others from trying their hand. The most notable attempt comes from Australian manufacturer Holden, who built the Torana A9X, one of the weirdest cars in the category, especially as the only non-American entry on this list.

The Torano A9X is at its most eye-catching when you add the supercharger that sticks out the top of the hood but, with its classic muscle car aesthetic, this is a car that is always going to capture someone's attention. Best of all, it can be modified to compete from Class C onwards, meaning you can use it in a whole host of events throughout the game.

9 2000 Ford SVT Cobra R

The fourth-generation SVT Cobra R has been featured in every main series Forza game except for the original Forza Horizon, so it's no surprise that it had made its way onto this list. After all, it wouldn't have been able to stick around that long otherwise.

With an affordable price of just 55,000 credits, this high-performance variant of the SVT Cobra is the perfect place to start if you're looking to get a modern muscle car early on in the game.

8 2017 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1

When it first arrived, the 2017 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 was the most powerful Camaro to roll off the production line, packing a massive 650 horsepower from a 6.2L Supercharged V8. And at just 60,000 credits this is one of the cheapest ways to start racing in S1 Class.

So, if you want to go fast without splashing out hundreds of thousands of credits on European supercars this is one of the best ways to do it. As a plus, you get a great-looking muscle car too. Just be prepared for the questionable handling through the corners - all that power has to come at a price.

7 1977 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am

The 1977 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am is one of the cheapest cars you'll find and the cheapest on this list at just 45,000 credits. While in its stock state it might be one of the slower cars on this list, it offers an excellent platform for the creation of a modified muscle car through upgrades.

If you want a car that can compete throughout the low and middle classes in the game, then the Firebird is a viable option because it can handle pretty much any modifications you decide to put on it.

6 2018 Ford Mustang GT

The Ford Mustang is what most people think of when they hear someone say muscle car, and for good reason. It's an American icon with global recognition and the 2018 Ford Mustang GT featured in Forza Horizon 4 makes good on that reputation.

With a front-mounted 5.0-liter V8, this 460 horsepower muscle car is one of the best sounding cars you can find in all of Horizon 4. On top of that, it also serves as a capable and highly modifiable platform if you want to turn it into a car capable of competing in Forza Horizon's highest classes of competition.

5 1969 Dodge Charger Daytona Hemi

The 1969 Dodge Charger Daytona Hemi is by far the most expensive car featured on this list with an eye-watering price of 900,000 credits. That may seem like a lot of credits for a car that competes in Forza Horizon's C Class competitions but this is far from an ordinary muscle car.

The Charger Daytona has history - it was the first car in NASCAR to go over 200mph thanks to its aerodynamic design. With its aerodynamics and powerful 7.0-liter V8 engine, it still more than holds up against the modern competition in its category.

4 2013 Dodge SRT Viper GTS

With an 8.2-liter engine, the 2013 Dodge SRT Viper GTS has the biggest engine of all the cars on this list, which is no small feat in the arena of American muscle. Unlike many of the high-displacement cars on this list, the Viper is modern, meaning it puts that huge engine's power down much more efficiently.

The only downside is that all its power gives the Viper a tendency to oversteer, something which can make driving it seem like an impossible task for the inexperienced. But if you have a gentle touch when it comes to the gas pedal then this could be a car you are capable of mastering.

3 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Z06

The 2015 Corvette Z06 is the best modern corvette in Forza Horizon 4. The mid-engine Corvette C8 is a close competitor but is also one of Forza Horizon's Hard-To-Find cars, something that makes it unnecessarily difficult to access. Even so, the Z06's classic combination of a front-mounted engine and rear-wheel drive is more than enough to get the job done.

Unlike many muscle cars, the Corvette has always been a surprisingly capable car in the corners, giving it an advantage over many of the cars on this list. It also has a bit more room for modification than the 2019 Corvette ZR1 that is also available in-game, meaning you can really tune the car to best suit your driving style.

2 1971 Ford Mustang Mach 1

The Ford Mustang Mach 1 is an American muscle car icon and the best classic muscle car in Forza Horizon 4. With a massive 376 horsepower at its disposal, this performance-oriented version of the classic Ford Mustang offers great acceleration and straight-line speed compared to nearly every other classic muscle car in the game.

So, if you want the blocky styling of a classic muscle car but still want plenty of power, it's hard to see a better option for you than the Mach 1 Mustang.

1 2015 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat

With its 6.2-liter HEMI V8, the 2015 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat is the definition of a muscle car and the old adage: There's no replacement for displacement. When the Hellcat is churning out 707 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque, it's near impossible to argue against that.

With that much power available it's no surprise that the Charger SRT Hellcat is one of the fastest cars around and capable of speeds in excess of 200mph. Despite its lumbering weight of nearly 4500lbs, any time lost in corners will be more than made up for as soon as you put your foot to the floor.
