What is the fastest that you've had your N1K up to? Hypothetically, of course....
What year is your bike and what mods for speed are on it?

If you were to install Ivan's tune which would allow for the additional RPM. Header, Brawlers and air filter so there would be less restriction on intake and exhaust. A new AGT 190 55 for a little help in the final drive ratio and speedo correction, the mirrors pulled in and the windscreen down I'd be willing to bet it would still gently lean on the rev limiter at 166 indicated.
Oh... if you so happened to have a GPS under the seat it might record a 164 top speed.
Now of course all this is subject to verification. Good luck.

I've done an indicated 150, but wasn't "topped out". I will do some, er, research and get back to you after my trip out West (away from all the law enforcement).

Bumping up to a 55 requires additional hardware?

I would have to say..?.wait, I mean guess. Complete, 100% guess. My GPS would have agreed with yours if we ever tried such things.,and we didn't .....

I think it depends on if you have a flashed ECU or not I had a friend who reported 157 (no flash) and 166 (w/ flash).

no flash on mine yet...I'll have to see what she can do now that I have some baffles in....don't remember what the RPMs read, but at 130 it seemed so loud that I didn't push it any further....
in my dream of course....

I would love to ......just once......find the top speed of my Ninja 1000, but I lack the testicular fortitude to go beyond about 120 on a public road or highway. I will drag knee and peg but top speed on a public road is a bit scary to me for some reason. Track days are a different story.

159 indicated 153 actual bone stock seemed to be a very common number. My un-tested thoughts are the bike could make actual 160 with just a sprocket change. With the other mods of Ivans, air and also the sprocket my guess is close to actual 170. Catch a 20 MPH tail wind and who knows?

I agree. I went upto 136mph and the crown jewels shrank to... well, never mind. I'm an aggressive rider but such speeds on public roads give me the scares. bring on the twisties, though, and the jewels become veritable Koh-i-noors...

153 was the magical number when bike was all stock. Not sure what it is now with a full system....

What's the altitude in West Virginia or more specific where the person tested the bike?

Mine, (2013) at the track. I did 167 mph.... I know the speedo is way wrong, but I didn't have a gps with me... This really was on the track, (PIR) and had to brake because of the chicane turn.

How scary it is (other than cops) has a lot to do with how fast it gets there. If you had a 14R or a Busa, and start wailing thru the gears, you'd look down at the speedo and say OMG I'm 180+

Buck and a quarter on a mountain straight. Have plenty of room to go faster but that was good for me.

That is moving right along isn't it, especially at night with our Cracker Jack Box quality stock headlight pattern. 142 MPH is what a hair over 200 feet per second and our headlights might make 400-500 feet of usable light.
Love speed and cant say I haven't done the same but thinking about it setting here right now sends a chill down my spine knowing the distances needed to shut down at those speeds.
Stay safe

Yes, time and place certainly applies, does'nt it? And place does not include the traffic returning from the eclipse party in Idaho. Deserted highways suddenly looked like los angeles, in rush hour.
